Focus on the In-Patient Unit
Visiting:
We encourage visiting to be kept between 10.30am - 12 noon and 2pm - 8pm to allow our patients to have adequate rest
during the day.
A guest room is available for relatives who are required to stay overnight. There is a comfortable lounge and facilities to
make tea and coffee. Children are welcome to visit but we ask that they are supervised at all times.
Here is just one of the expressions of thanks we receive each and every day:
“I don’t have the words to explain how much your kindness, support and
professionalism meant to my Mam and me during her last days at St. Clare’s.
You all do a truly amazing job and you all made a huge difference during this
difficult time. So all I can say is THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.”

Respite:
One bed at the Hospice is dedicated to respite
care. This allows a patient or their carer a short
break of 1 or 2 weeks at a time up to a maximum
of 6 weeks in the year. Respite care is planned
in advance and referrals can be made by any
health care professional. Call us on 0191 529
7100 to find out more about this service.
What is the Hospice like?
We have 8 In-Patient beds, 7 of which are treatment beds for those patients who need pain and symptomcontrol, psychological/
emotional support or end of life care. There is also 1 bed dedicated to offer planned respite.
Each patient room is single occupancy and includes en-suite facilities with either a bath or shower. There are also French doors
in each room allowing access to the patio/garden areas. Some rooms also have ceiling hoists fitted for those patients who
require a little extra assistance with moving around.
Who is
the care for?

support patients requiring

management, psychological,
