St. Claires Hospice - Autumn & Winter 2016 Newsletter - page 14

Donations and support from businesses are very important to St. Clare’s Hospice and help us to raise the
£1.4 million per year that we need to keep running. Our corporate fundraising has started well in 2016
and we have had a range of support from businesses including staff fundraising, sponsorship of our
events and corporate donations.
Dicksons Cycling for St. Clare’s
A team of 13 employees from Dicksons Pork Butchers have
completed a Coast to Coast challenge - cycling from Whitehaven
to Sunderland, raising an incredible £2,397!
The team who are based at Dicksons head office on the
Middlefields Industrial Estate, South Shields, spent 3 days on the
road and cycled a total of 140 miles.
Laura Denning, Sales and Marketing Co-ordinator for Dicksons
said: “Come sun, rain, hail and snow we all made it back to
Sunderland in one piece!
It was a fantastic weekend filled with challenges and achievements. If ever a hill felt too steep we could just think about all the
generous people who supported us and the money we had raised for St Clare’s. Visiting the hospice myself, it was lovely to meet
everyone and see the benefits they have to offer the local community and made the bike ride a very worthwhile challenge!”
Corporate Activities:
Kittiwake offshore platform raised £350 through raffles and games. An employee nominated St. Clare’s because his
friend had spent his final days at the hospice and said that his family praised the standard of care he received.
St. Clare’s were nominated for NISA’s Making a Difference Locally scheme and were a runner up receiving
a £500 donation.
South Tyneside Business Forum chose St. Clare’s to benefit from their networking event held at The Dunes,
South Shields in June raising a fantastic £228!
A donation of £750 was received from the Shall Gannet Alpha Platform.
Fit4Less Jarrow, LS Care, Martinos and Peter Johnson Funerals who sponsored our Colour Stations at our Rainbow Dash.
Zenith People who raised £220 at their Golf Day
