Clinical:

We regularly monitored our bed occupancy figures and completed a benchmarking exercise with 4 other local Hospices.
•
We have submitted a business case to the South Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group for consideration to improve
and expand the Lymphoedema clinics in South Tyneside.
•
We have recruited a new Hospice Physician.
•
We have developed a plan for Palliative Care Consultant cover until the newly appointed Doctors take up post in September 2015.
Staff and Volunteers:
•
We have appointed a Trainee Fundraiser who will be responsible for fundraising in the Gateshead area.
•
A volunteer survey was completed during 2014. The overall response was extremely positive with most volunteers being
very satisfied with their roles, however, it did flag up that communications could be improved. This will be worked upon
in the forthcoming year.
•
Personal Development plans have been completed for all staff at their annual appraisal with training needs and
development opportunities identified.
Others:
•
Quotes have been obtained for the new website, for implementation during the 2015/2016 financial year.
•
We have improved the security arrangements of a number of our retail stores.
•
We have been working with an energy consultancy called Utilitywise to obtain the best unit rates and standing charges
for electricity and gas.
