The Hospice has 8 In-Patient beds, one of these beds is dedicated
to respite care. The respite bed on the In-Patient Unit has been well
utilised this year, allowing the carer to have a well-earned break while
their relative is being well cared for in a safe and friendly place. This
facility is planned in advance, offering 1-2 weeks at a time with up to
a maximum of 6 weeks stay in a year.
We now offer internet access via Wi-Fi throughout the Hospice and
this has been of great benefit to our In-Patients, giving them the
opportunity to communicate with friends and family using e-mail or
Skype preventing isolation. They can also use speech readers, search
family history or just browse for general entertainment. Feedback
from patients and visitors using the Wi-Fi has been very positive.
