Volunteers urgently needed
Over the last few months you may have noticed that some of our charity
shops have been closed on certain days, unfortunately this is due to a lack
of volunteer cover. Our six charity shops across South Tyneside are staffed
mainly by volunteers and without a sufficient number of volunteers we have
had no choice but to close up, which is resulting in a loss of trade.
This is a position we desperately don’t want to be in but we are struggling
to recruit the number of volunteers that we need. Although we have 95
volunteers supporting our shops we still need a further 166.
We have a diverse group of volunteers so if you are interested in volunteering
for any reason at St. Clare’s Hospice, such as the charity is close to your
heart, you want to gain more skills, or you simply what to donate your time
to a worthy charity that helps people on a daily basis, please think of us.
Help us keep our shops open and raise more funds and awareness for
your local Hospice in the local community. Our volunteer’s are extremely
valued, as without them we could not do what we do. They are our work
force that raises vital funds that provide care to families and individuals
when they need it most. If you donate your time we can deliver even higher
standards of care.
We know little things can make a big difference; best friends Andrew Porrelli and Scott
Poole both 23 years old from South Shields are big believers in this and signed up to be
a volunteer after speaking to a member of the team and discussing our volunteer options.
They wanted to volunteer to gain more experience in retail and make new friends.
Vicki Tomlinson, Retail Manager said “Andrew and Scott have volunteered since October
2015. They are great fun and they love to learn and improve our retail standards alongside
ourteam. We have regular training session on pricing goods, visual merchandising which
hopefully will lead Andrew and Scott to get a job one day.”
You too can be part of the team, please don’t hesitate to call into one of the shops and ask about our voluntary positions.
You can also pick up an application fro our shops or visit our website
or call 0191 5297111.
As our retail strategy continues to be implemented so do the changes and improvements to our charity shops. Our
retail news provides you with an insight into what has been happening in the past six months and what to expect in
the near future.
