Every penny counts!
Our collection boxes can be seen in a number of different places within the
community such as shops, pubs and offices. Our aim is to have collection boxes
in as many different local businesses as possible.
How can I get a collection
box?
Getting a collection tin is easy
and hassle free! We will deliver
the collection box to you with
your organisation name and
unique collection number
on the box. Once you have
your box you can encourage
colleagues/ customers to
donate, their small change will
make a big difference!
What happens when the collection box is full?
All you have to do is call the number on the collection box (0191 529 7111) and we
will arrange for it to be collected by one of our volunteers, it’s as simple as that!

Jenny celebrates her 100th birthday!
You may remember that this time last year we had just celebrated the 99th birthday
of Day Care patient Jenny Scott. Despite suffering with Chronic Obstructive
Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Jenny has now celebrated her 100th Birthday and of
course, we made sure that she had a birthday to remember!
Staff, volunteers and patients from St. Clare’s pushed the boat out to arrange a
surprise birthday party. This is the first time the Hospice has celebrated a patient
turning 100!
A limousine (donated for the day by Gateshead Central Taxis) arrived to pick her up
and take her for a drive before arriving at her party destination at Bamburgh Grove
Community Hall in Jarrow. Unbeknown to Jenny her son John and granddaughter
Jolene were hiding in the limo to go for a drive with her.
When she arrived at her party, the red carpet, which was loaned from the Quality Hotel in Boldon, was rolled out and her friends
were waiting to greet her. The surprises continued when the Mayor of South Tyneside, Cllr Richard Porthouse and the Mayoress,
his wife Patricia arrived to present Jenny with her telegraph from the Queen.
When asked about the secret of living a long life, Jenny said: “I don’t know how I managed it, just lots of good living and fun”.
