St. Claires Hospice - Spring & Summer 2015 Newsletter - page 11

Companies continue to show they care
Our Corporate Partners, Members and local businesses have been busy as ever supporting our events and
holding some of their own as well. Thank you to all of you for your continued support!
Corporate fundraising continued to generate vitally needed funds and
we have been delighted to welcome some new businesses intending
to fundraise for us throughout the year! Whitburn Golf Club held
their annual Golf Day which raised a fantastic £2,123. Thank you to
everyone who attended and helped to raise funds for our Hospice.
A big thank you to all the Off Shore workers who have been nominating
St. Clare’s to receive donations from their staff safety schemes. When
workers are safe on the job wearing the correct safety glasses/
protective equipment, the companies involvedmake a donation which
is then distributed to charities chosen by their employees. Thank you
to BP Corporate, GEADP and A&P Tyne who have all donated to us
recently following staff nomintations regarding their safety incentives.
Well done to everyone involved for staying safe at work!
Staff at Barbour in Simonside supported the Hospice with an
Ice bucket challenge raising £90 - thanks to all involved for their
support!
Employees from Co-Operative Funeralcare who took part in our
Firewalk Challenge and raised a fantastic £460.00!
Aardvarc Electrical based at Sunderland Enterprise Park raised a
brilliant £441 at their Golf Day which will go towards the annual
running costs of the Hospice.
Thank you to all the workplaces and groups that took part in our Sign & Share Christmas
card scheme and also to those people who chose to donate in lieu of Christmas cards. All
donations will be used to support our patients throughout the year.
Our first Wear a Santa Suit Day took place in December and we had individuals who were
sponsored to wear a Santa suit for the day, we also had businesses, some of whom went
the full hog and wore a Santa suit at work, including Absolute Hair and Beauty in Boldon and
others who went for a festive fundraiser including BT South Tyneside. Special thanks to Kathy
Cann who attends our Day Care on a Friday for wearing her Santa suit all day and raising a
fantastic £190.
Staff at Newcastle Building Society have raised £1,070 for St. Clare’s Hospice through a
major Christmas fundraising drive where customers paid to name the elf teddy. Our mascot
‘Buddy’, a huge cuddly teddy bear, also visited customers on December 15th when staff had
a Christmas dress day. Funds also came from a homemade cookbook that was made of
various customer’s recipes and sold for St. Clare’s. Staff also took part in our Midnight Walk in
2014 raising additional funds. Thank you!
