Have a Heart for
the Hospice
Monday 16th - Sunday 22nd November
The “Have a Heart for the Hospice” is a unique exhibition and sale of decorated
wooden hearts submitted by artists, celebrities and respected personalities. The
exhibition will take place at the Customs House, South Shields in November
and through the sale of wooden hearts, it will raise vital funds for patient care.
We plan to exhibit around 300 hearts which will be offered for sale on an anonymous basis at a fixed price of £50. The identity of
the artist will not be disclosed until after you have purchased your piece of art, although a full list of contributors will be published in
a catalogue. Therefore you will have to go with your heart (literally) and choose the heart you like as opposed to the name behind
it. Once the heart has been purchased, the artist will be revealed along with a certificate of authenticity. Contributors so far include:
Lorraine Kelly, the Prime Minister; David Cameron and Sir Tom Courtenay.
If you consider yourself artistic, please feel free to get in touch and we will send out a heart for you to decorate. We also need
volunteers to help man the exhibition for the week. Please let us know if you would like to be involved.
Leeds Christmas
Market Coach Trip
Saturday 12th December
Join us for a festive coach trip to the Leeds German Christmas Market - Christkindelmarkt, one
of the most established German Christmas markets in the UK. With traditional wooden stalls,
festive greenery, a Christmas carousel ride and twinkling colourful lights all creating a unique
continental festive atmosphere in the heart of Leeds city centre.
There’s something for everyone; stalls with handcrafted toys, jewellery, festive decorations,
speciality food and drink including Stollen and Gingerbread; the Alp Chalet Bavarian eatery
providing a warm and cosy place to sit and enjoy authentic German food and drink.
Our coaches will pick up at Jarrow Bus Station and at South Tyneside District Hospital at 8.15am.
Once everyone has boarded we will depart for Leeds, where our estimated time of arrival is
10.30am to 11am. You will have approximately 6 hours in Leeds where you will have the chance
to explore the Christmas Market as well as the city centre and its shops. We will leave Leeds
at 5pm sharp and anticipate arriving back at Jarrow Bus Station and South Tyneside District
Hospital between 7pm and 7.30pm.
Sign & Share
December
Our Sign & Share Christmas campaign helps you to save time writing out Christmas cards
and also saves paper too! Instead of sending Christmas cards to your colleagues or groups
of friends, you can request a Sign & Share poster. The idea is that you each write a Christmas
message on the poster and then display it for all to see.
The money you would have spent on Christmas cards is then donated to St. Clare’s and we will
use it to help care for local people with a life limiting illness.
